One of the least trekked of all the approaches to the Khumbu, following an ancient trade route used by the Limbu and Rai. For those looking to experience the entire gamut of trekking conditions, here is the perfect walk, commencing in the sweltering, verdant Arun Valley. This is a marvellous way to walk into the Khumbu Valley. Having no facilities of tea houses along the way of the trail the area into which you are headed is sparsely populated by Rai and Sherpa community, and after leaving the heat of the Arun behind you will find yourself in a wonderland of isolated villages and pristine woodland. Salpa Banjang, the forest at least begins thin out as rhododendron and tress of the lower slopes.
